Unfortunately, illegal dumping of rubbish has become a growing problem in the City of Melton. Just in the past 12 months, more than 6000 tonnes of rubbish were illegally dumped in the City of Melton (that would fill 200 large rubbish trucks!).
Not only does this make our streets look unsightly, but it comes at a huge cost. Over $3.1 million was spent by Council in the last year cleaning up illegally dumped rubbish, money that could have been spent funding roads or community facilities.
We’re asking our residents to help us stop the dumping of rubbish in our area and keep our community’s streets pristine and rubbish-free. This is how you can help:
Claim your hard rubbish pick-ups and Recycling Facility visits
Residents are entitled to claim two hard waste collections or two drop offs at the Melton Recycling Facility (or a combination of each) each financial year. This applies to both tenants and owners.
To claim, visit the council website here.
Report dumped rubbish
If you see dumped rubbish, report it to Council and they’ll get a crew out to clean it up as soon as possible.
To report, call 9747 7200 or fill out an online form on the Council’s website.
Dob in a dumper
If you witness someone dumping rubbish, or have found dumped rubbish, you can also report this by calling 9747 7200 or filling out an online form on the Council’s website.
